The Gower is UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The geographical location and a proactive community have helped in keeping this peninsula virtually unchanged and undeveloped. The Gower really is one of these islands’ gems.
The beauty of Gower’s hills, stunning beaches and cliffs lie all around, most within a short drive and the nearest only 25 minutes’ walk along one of Gower’s extensive network of trails.
The Gower is steeped in history too. The grand structure of Penrice Castle and Estate is little more than a walk through the gorgeous and hidden Mill Wood. Weobley Castle overlooks the sea on the North side of the peninsula and the Smuggler’s cave, Culvers Hole lies hidden under Port Eynon point. The excellent ‘Gower Unearthed’ based in nearby Parkmill offer guided tours and walks to learn much about the history and culture of this area.
The Gower is also a base for a huge range of outdoor activities – wild swimming, surfing, biking, trail running, fishing, horse-riding, walking and much more. In the right conditions, paraglider and hang-glider pilots enjoy soaring the local site on Rhossili Down.
We are nestled on Berry Lane at the edge Scurlage village at the heart of Gower! This central location is ideal for reaching all of Gowers wonderful beauty spots - just 3 miles from Rhossili, less than 2 miles from Port Eynon and 4 miles from Oxwich.
Our village has a doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, a great local shop and even fish ‘n’ chips. Quality pubs and eateries are within quick and easy reach of the cottages. Down the road in Parkmill, the Heritage Centre host a weekly street food event as well as a fabulous coffee shop and bakery.
